This business of learning how to love is probably the most important lesson anyone ever learns in life, if he is fortunate enough to learn it.
~William Menninger, M.D.
Love must be learned, and learned again and again; there is no end to it. Hate needs no instruction, but waits only to be provoked.
I spent thirteen years pretending I knew love. It very well may have been there in front of me. But, because I was unable to love myself, I was incapable of grasping its true nature. Since then, it has taken me years to learn to love myself – unconditionally. I was only able to achieve this by letting go of my Ego, over and over – relentlessly. It is a daily struggle. This process forces me to embrace humility and compassion. Only through these efforts have I been able to recognize the love that the Universe holds for all of us, the love that is within each and every one of us, the love that is meant to be shown and expressed to all of humanity, the love that is meant to be shared with the cosmos. Today I know I am capable of receiving love, that I am worthy of accepting love, and that I am willing to express love to all beings. This is what the Universe has planned for us all.
